William “Bill” Yocius is the founder and President of Shields Capital Advisors. He serves as the primary investment advisor for most of the firm’s clients and institutions.
Bill has enjoyed a 39+ year career in business in diverse industries ranging from investments, technology, and municipal government. Prior to founding Shields Capital, he was the CEO of the Mitchell, Vaught & Taylor (MVT) investment firm where he worked with over 30 Illinois public pension boards and over 100 individual investors providing investment advice and strategy. Prior to MVT, Bill was an investment advisor for UBS and Thrivent Financial. Bill has presented to thousands on the true measurement of portfolio success. His Jeopardy style presentation on complex investment topics are in-demand and very well received. In 2007 he wrote the whitepaper on the use of annuities in public pension funds.
Bill is on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, Treasurer for his local fire protection district, and Chairman at his local church. Previously, Bill served as a Trustee and then Mayor for his town. In 1995 he received commendations for helping the town recover after a commuter train collided with a school bus in his community.
He graduated with a B.S. from Illinois State University and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago with an emphasis in finance.

Robert A. Yocius

Robert “Bob” Yocius is the head of the fixed income investment team for Shields Capital.
Bob has enjoyed a 36-year career in the finance industry. He was a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and sat on the exchange’s interest rate committee. On the exchange, Bob was head of trading operations for one of the largest banks in the world, Sanwa Bank (JAPAN). Bob, and his team, hedged interest rates for large institutions and averaged $30 Billion notional hedged per day. Additionally, he provided interest rate hedging advice and execution to notable clients including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, HSBC, RBC and many others.
Bob was also a professor at Grand Valley State University. He taught courses on finance, investments, and risk management. His academic background includes a B.S. from Illinois State and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago with an emphasis in finance.
